(The 9-11
Stuffy Fund is a project started by Fifth Graders in New York.
Below is the message they are trying to get out to anyone who
wants to help.)
Please help us
spread the word about a project called The 9-11 Stuffy Fund for the
children who live near The World Trade Towers whose homes have been
damaged by the terrible disaster on September 11th.
Families who live near Ground Zero are in the process of beginning
to clean up their homes so that they can move back in. They have been
informed that their children's stuffed animals will have to be thrown
away because of the possibility that toxic materials may have gotten
on them from the fires, explosions and collapse of the World Trade
Center.
We know that there are many sadder things that have happened as a
result of this terrible tragedy, but this must be very hard for the
children who live near the site of this disaster. Here's the idea:
Each child can donate as many stuffed animals as they can bear to
part with and put them up for adoption by some child who has lost
their own. If you can't stand to give up your own, you can donate
new ones. There are only two requirements:
1) The stuffed animals should be in excellent (like NEW) condition!
2) They should be ready to receive the love and devotion of a new
child.
The fifth grade will distribute the stuffed animals through the New
York Family Assistance Center. Send your stuffies to: The Fifth Grade,
Little Red School House & Elizabeth Irwin High School, 272 Sixth
Avenue @ Bleecker St., N.Y., N.Y. 10014.
