If you think you one of the few people in the world that loves math, you will be thrilled to find MathCounts. This organization supplies middle school students with specialized math club materials and sponsors a major math competition each year.

Their mission is to:
"...get 6th, 7th and 8th graders throughout the U.S. excited about achievement in mathematics, and to provide middle school students with a foundation for successful careers in science, technology, engineering or mathematics."
To accomplish their task, MathCounts sponsors a competition which has more than 39,000 participants each year (2008 is their 25th year)! Even more impressive is the number of students who benefit from their math materials... more than 7 million of them!

To join in the fun each year, be sure to sign up before the early December cut off. Local competitions begin in February and the state competitions take place in March. If you are too late for this year's competition, why not start practicing for next year with the help of their Problem of the Week Archive.
