Looking for Water on the Moon

NASA is going to crash a piece of their current LCROSS probe into a shadowy part of the moon to see if they can blast away material that will expose signs of water. The explosion is supposed to be equivalent to 2000 pounds of TNT. Our only question is, won't the explosion evaporate any delicate signs of water?
