Steroid Use in Baseball

Jose Canseco’s book on steroid use shows it as a rampant ongoing problem within the leagues. This is not the first exposé on steroid use within American’s favorite past time though. Ken Caminiti, 1996 National League’s MVP, broke the news in 2002. As more and more information comes out about the use and abuse of drugs in the game of baseball, the damage to the sport may be impossible to overcome.

Discussion Questions

Are the teams and leagues doing everything they can to curtail the steroid drug problem?

Are other drugs being used as rampantly in the baseball leagues?

Why is drug testing within the baseball leagues not as tightly controlled as most other sports?

What is the message being sent to the youth of American?
