President George W. Bush seems to have the uncanny ability to ignore the fact that he has the lowest presidential approval rating of any president in recent memory. Republican delegates have been concerned about his lack of interest in the polls. Even though Bush won't have to worry about being reelected, since his two terms are almost over, Republicans around the country will be coming up for re-election, and with President Bush's approval rating so low, they will be fighting an uphill battle all the way.

Questions to Ponder

  • Is President George W. Bush selling out the delegates in the Republican party by not working to change his approval rating?

  • Will the Republican delegates work to separate themselves more and more from the President so as not to hurt themselves come re-election?

  • Will the rush to separate themselves from the President, force enough Republicans to align themselves with Democrats and Independents create a "tipping point" within the voting structure?

  • Is there enough of a schism within the Republican Party to finally push the U.S. into a three party system?
