Australia slapped financial sanctions on Myanmar's generals and their families on Wednesday as supporters of the opposition leader marked 12 years of her captivity with protests. Human rights group Amnesty International has also renewed its appeals for Suu Kyi's unconditional release. Protests were being held in a number of other cities around the world.
