If you’re interested in the insect world, then we have a couple of great sites for you to explore.

Bug Bios
If you’ve never thought of insects as beautiful, this site may just change your mind. Bug Bios is a gorgeous site with incredible photos of the insect world. Be sure to check out the order Lepidoptera for beautiful photos of moths and butterflies.

Beetle Science
We love this site from Cornell! There are virtual beetles that you can rotate, a biodiversity species-scape to explore, and creepy carbon dust illustrations to look at up close and personal. An overall, great site.

Bug Bytes
Did you know that fire ants actually make a sound or that the wing vibrations of a moth change when they’re near a pheromone source? That’s just a couple of the interesting sounds that you can explore on this unusual site. Make sure that you turn up the volume, because some of the sounds are very subtle.

The Garden Safari: An Introduction to Insects and Dragonflies
This site has a wonderful photo-intensive introduction to the insect world. All of the images are linked to larger photos, so you can look closely into the eyes of a dragonfly. Not for the faint of heart, it’s really a face that only mother dragonfly could love.
