Venus Transit

An extrememly rare event happened on June 8th. The planet Venus appeared to cross in front of the Sun as seen from the Earth. No one who is alive right now had ever seen this celestial event before. The last “Venus transit” occured more than a century ago in 1882.

The event could be viewed indirectly over the internet, with a live webcast from Athens, Greece thanks to a partnership between NASA and the Exploratorium.
