Praying Mantids - Feeding Time

As the praying mantids are getting bigger, Melissa and Brian decided to see if they could feed them. So, Brian took a tweezer and caught a couple of moths and feed it to their little group of praying mantids.

© Melissa Papke 7-17-2006 - By 7-17-06, the praying mantids were getting bigger, and they were getting hungrier. The larger ones were getting pretty good at hunting.



© Melissa Papke 7-23-2006 - Melissa and Brian decided to give them a little treat. Brian held out the moth, and this baby praying mantid grabbed quickly bit its head off.it, and



© Melissa Papke 7-23-2006 There's a reason this praying mantid is growing quickly. It made short work of eating that big moth.



© Melissa Papke 2006 - After it was done eating, it cleaned itself the same way that a cat does.



© Melissa Papke 7-23-2006 This other praying mantid couldn't wait for dinner. It actually ran across a couple of leaves to snatch the moth out of the tweezers.
