I've had an odd fascination with unusual periodic tables for years. There are some amazing periodic tables on the Internet that take this chemical chart into an entirely different realm. Instead of just being informational in a very basic chemical way, these periodic tables merge other information with the chemical data to become a unique exploration of chemistry and the world around us.
Such is this unusual printmaking project, which has created a periodic table that merges both art and chemistry. Each click takes you to a different print, which explores the element in terms of popular culture or historical context. 97 different printmakers and artists have taken part in this unique project. They live in Australia, Canada, England, Italy, Japan, Scotland, and the United States.
