Folktunes - A Unique Repository of Cultural Music

A new member of the Creative Commons is Folktunes.org, a unique archive of music that celebrates cultural music such as Bluegrass and the Blues. Although, in its infacy, the music archive shows the promise of being a priceless repository of folk music in the future.
There are currently selctions from bands and artists such as Fan Belt's Jam, The Memphis Jug Band, Elizabeth Gordon, and Cannon's Jug Stompers. Unfortunately, at this point there are no histories listed for the contributors. In order for the archive to have serious value as a tool for the study of folkmusic, this essential component will eventually need to be added.
If you are able to contribute to the project, you should seriously consider it. There are very few archives of folkmusic that are easily accessible for students and researchers. Be sure to read the copyright attributions before contributing.
The songs at Folkmusic.org are also a unique resource for sampling artists, and filmmakers, though be aware that if you use these recordings in your work, the subsequent work must be released under a similar Creative Commons Copyright license.
