Participate in Earth Hour on March 29th, 2008 by turning off your lights for one hour from 8PM to 9PM. When this took place in Sidney, Australia in 2007 the reduction in greenhouse gases was equivalent to taking 48,000 cars off the road. They had an energy reduction in the city of 10.2%, exceeding their hoped for participation by more than double.
The World Wildlife Fund is sponsoring this hour of awareness in the global warming crisis, and it's easy for everyone to participate. Let the politicians of the world hear your statement on climate change. Take out your candles and a book, and turn off the lights and the TV for just one hour this evening.
Text and email your friends and get them to participate as well. You can make a difference. You can start a movement whose repercussions will be felt for years to come. Turn off and join in. Cities are already going dark around the world.
At ClassBrain, we've already switched out our lights to energy efficient light bulbs, and we're very careful to turn off lights and equipment when it's not in use. Why not change out your bulbs while the lights are out this evening? How else can you reduce global warming? Every step does make a difference, and tonight you can actually see it take place.
