A bit about the artist . . .
This particular page is devoted to Dmitri Shostakovich. He was born in St. Petersburg on September 25, 1906. He died in Moscow on August 9, 1975. Shostakovich began studying with his mother who was a professional pianist. His graduation piece, Symphony No.1, brought him international fame at an early age.
