A bit about the artist . . .

This particular page is devoted to Anton Bruckner. He was born in Ansfelden on September 4, 1824. He died in Vienna on October 11, 1896. Bruckner was the son of a village schoolmaster and organist. He later traveled to Paris and London as an organ virtuoso and improviser. To learn more about the life and music of Anton Bruckner, visit the following websites . . .

Bruckner: Symphonies Nos. 8 & 9 / Horenstein

Horenstein conducts Bruckner's 'Symphony No. 8' which dates from 1887 and is considered the most important work of his nine symphonies. No. 9 was left unfinished on Bruckner's death in 1896.
