Project Bio Bus
What do you get when you mix 13 college students with used veggie oil and a bus? Project Bio Bus, of course! Team members Charles Acher, Nick Benjamin, Leland Bourdon, Lindsey Corbin, Logan Duran, Thomas Hand, Jen Higgins, Julia Proctor, Brian Reavey, Sam Stevenson, Stephen Swank, Devin Wardell, and Jeff Wetter began their journey on a bus they designed to run on used vegetable oil.
Their Mission? Project Bio-Bus will demonstrate the long-range capabilities of vegetable oil and bio-diesel as an alternative energy source, foster greater awareness of emerging technologies, and promote environment-sensitive philosophies; all of which are compatible with active outdoor and climbing activities.
The group will travel in the hard-to-miss school bus from Vermont to Washington and will post updates on their website at www.projectbiobus.com.
Aside from creating an environmentally safe way to get home after finals, these guys hope to make a statement by encouraging the reduction of the consumption and dependence on foreign oil, while promoting American farmers and industry.
Stop by their site and check it out!
