| From Classbrain.com Lesson Plans As many schools have eliminated any sort of driver's education, teens driving deaths have climbed. A 16 year old is 10 times more likely to be in an accident than an adult, according to Driving Skills for Life. That's a terrifying number! How do you improve their possibility of survival? You educate the kids again.
Statistics are sobering. Over 7500 drivers between the ages of 15 and 20 were involved in fatal crashes in 2005 in the US. Also noted, was that the fatality rate in the US for drivers between 16 and 19 years of age, based on miles driven, is four times the fatality rate for drivers between the ages of 25 and 69. Don't let your students go into the driving world unprepared. Speak to your PTA and your administrators and request at the minimum a mini-section on driver's health and safety within your health class.
