Which states border the state of New York?

New York is located in the mid Atlantic portion of the United States, and it is bordered to the northwest by Lakes Erie and Ontario and Quebec, Canada, to the east by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut and the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the Atlantic Ocean and New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and to the north by Quebec.
