Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach in Honolulu, Hawaii has partnered with Creative Native Crafts, an Oahu-based scrapbook manufacturing company that specializes in island-themed scrapbooking supplies, to offer a new Hawaii-themed scrapbook activity for guests, with a special emphasis on all things Hawaii.

Every Thursday at 10 a.m., Creative Native Crafts conducts a one-hour scrapbooking demonstration at the Outrigger Waikiki. The class is free for registered guests of the hotel and its sister property, the Outrigger Reef on the Beach. “Some [of our customers] come from as far as Philadelphia and Germany to purchase scrapbook paper with Pearl Harbor, Hanauma Bay, ‘Iolani Palace and an assortment of plumeria and hibiscus designs,” Parker-Ulima said.

The weekly scrapbooking demonstrations may vary thematically from month-to-month. In commemoration of Arbor Day, Hawaii flowers will be the focus in November, and Christmas in Hawaii will be highlighted in December.

The new scrapbooking demonstrations are part of the Outrigger Waikiki’s Kalakaua Experience, an award-winning year-round series of educational guest programs that highlight Hawaii’s rich cultural heritage, both contemporary and traditional. Programs include festive special events and fascinating workshops covering a broad range of topics such as Hawaiian history, music and dance, healing, ocean voyaging, warrior arts, crafts and fine artwork, island cuisine, the environment, lei-making and more. Many of the programs feature hands-on learning, and most are free or available for a nominal fee to guests of the Outrigger Waikiki and Outrigger Reef hotels.
