History of Washington State
Before the coming of the Europeans, the Native American peoples inhabiting what is now the state of Washington included the Nez Per, Spokane, Yakima, Cayuse, Okanogan, Walla Walla, and Colville in the interior, and the Nooksak, Chinook, Nisqually, Clallam, Makah, Quinault, and Puyallup in the coastal area.
