I am writing about my mom's hometown of Bethel, Ohio. She LOVES it there! There are so many fun places to go and so many interesting things to see. I'd like to tell you about some of the way more interesting ones...I hope you enjoy your trip back to Bethel!

The Blue Haven is the Ben Franklin store where my mom used to buy candy for a PENNY! Now when she takes me in there, they always tell her they'd know who I belonged to, even if she wasn't there with me!

First of all, while we were there this summer, a couple of really special hometown favorites closed down forever. This makes us very sad. One was the Midway Theatre. It's really old fashion, and there's just one screen. It was a treasure to my mom, who had her first date with a boy there...ooooh! When we found out it was closing, she took us all there for the final show: "Horton Hears a Who", and even made us sit in the same seats they had sat in on that date! Gross! Now mom says we can go to the Starlight Drive-In, which is just down the street. I've never been to a drive-in. Mom said it's later at night, and outside, so I am not too crazy about that idea, but it is to see movies, and I DO love those! I guess I will have to trust her on this one!

Next, we're off to lunch at my favorite place to eat: The Blue Haven. It is owned by my mom's cousins from way back. They're really nice, and the food is so yummy there too! We always eat french fries with gravy...it is delicious! I didn't think I'd like it, but it is great! Everyone knows everybody else in there, which is weird and fun at the same time. They always just come in and plop down next to whoever and nobody even cares! Now THAT doesn't happen where we live! Here's the bad news: they're not going to be there when we get back to town for Christmas-they sold it. My mom says they're retiring. My Mamaw Jackie said maybe cousin Linda will still bake her pies and sell them from her porch, but I think she's just kidding with us! Well, I hope she isn't though, because her pies are so good!

I have been to the next stop, because my Nanaw owns it! There used to be two trolley cars that were left parked right on the street! She and my great grandpa made them into a really neat place to live! It's the neatest thing in the world! The ceilings are curved, the floors are all wooden, and there is a weird kind of big doorway right in the middle of it all. Mom says that is where the two trolley cars were connected. Now, I've ridden on trolley cars before, and this place seems a lot smaller, so I guess they were smaller back in the old days when my mom was little. She says she's not THAT old though! I just like to tease her!

I wouldn't want to forget to tell you all about the park where we spent the 4th of July. It is called Burke Park and has stages and a huge theater, and even really old pioneer cabins! There's a big building called the shelter and that's where we had to stay at first, because it was raining hard! But thankfully, it stopped and we all got to run around and see all the sights. There is a big play zone too. I heard mom say it wasn't there when she was a kid, but I don't think they made them way back then!

I guess I could go on and on telling you about all of the places we go to when we visit Bethel, Ohio, but then you might not try them yourself, so I will leave it with that. I really hope you get a chance to visit the town voted "Town of the Week"! We love it, and we hope you will love it too.

Special note:Chloe's teacher's name at Coppergate Elementary School is Mrs. Lisa Peyton. She has also been greatly influenced by Mrs. Dallas Barfield, and Mrs. Angela Schaefer. Our thanks to all the teachers.
