Teachers Associations
The following list covers some of the teachers associations in the United States. Many of these associations have international coverage. The attached descriptions are from the organizations themselves. If you know of an association that should be added, please email us at the brains@classbrain.com
AAE - Assocation of American Educators
The Association of American
Educators (AAE) is the largest national, non-union, professional teacher association, advancing the profession through professional development, teacher advocacy and protection.
ACTFL - The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages
The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages is the only national organization dedicated to the improvement and expansion of the teaching and learning of all languages at all levels of instruction. ACTFL is an individual membership organization of more than 7,000 foreign language educators and administrators from elementary through graduate education, as well as government and industry.
AFT - American Federation of Teachers
The mission of the American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO, is to improve the lives of our members and their families, to give voice to their legitimate professional, economic and social aspirations, to strengthen the institutions in which we work, to improve the quality of the services we provide, to bring together all members to assist and support one another and to promote democracy, human rights and freedom in our union, in our nation and throughout the world.

AACE - Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education
The AACE encourages scholarly inquiry related to information technology in education and the dissemination of research results and their applications.
AEE - Association for Experiential Education
The mission of the Association for Experiential Education is to develop and promote experiential education. The Association is committed to support professional development, theoretical advancement, and evaluation of experiential education worldwide.
CUE - Computer Using Educators
Computer-Using Educators, Inc. is a non-profit California corporation founded in 1978. Our goal is to promote the integration of technology in the classroom in all disciplines and at all educational levels from preschool through college.
ITEA - International Technology Education Association
The International Technology Education Association is the largest professional educational association, principal voice, and information clearinghouse devoted to enhancing technology education through experiences in our schools (K-12). Its membership encompasses individuals and institutions throughout the world with the primary membership in North America.
NCTE - National Council of the Teachers of English
Since 1911, NCTE has worked to advance teaching, research, and student achievement in English language arts at all scholastic levels.
NCTM - National Council of the Teachers of Mathematics
"The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics is a public voice of mathematics education, providing vision, leadership and professional development to support teachers in ensuring equitable mathematics learning of the highest quality for all students."
MTNA - Music Teachers National Association
The mission of Music Teachers National Association is to advance the value of music study and music making to society and to support the professionalism of music teachers.
NAEA - National Art Education Association
The NAEA works to promote art education through Professional Development, Service, Advancement of Knowledge, and Leadership.
NABT - National Association of Biology Teachers
The National Association of Biology Teachers (NABT) is "the leader in life science education." To date, more than 9,000 educators have joined NABT to share experiences and expertise with colleagues from around the globe; keep up with trends and developments in the field; and grow professionally.
NEA - National Education Association
The National Education Association (NEA) is the nation's largest professional employee organization and is committed to advancing the cause of public education. NEA's 2.7 million members work at every level of education, from pre-school to university graduate programs. NEA has affiliate organizations in every state, as well as in more than 14,000 local communities across the United States.
NESTA - National Earth Science Teachers Association
The National Earth Science Teachers Association is a nonprofit educational organization, founded in 1983, whose purpose is the advancement, stimulation, extension, improvement, and coordination of Earth Science education at all educational levels.
NSTA - National Science Teachers Association
The NSTAs mission is " ... to promote excellence and innovation in science teaching and learning for all."
PA-Association of Substitute Teachers
The PA-Association of Substitute Teachers is the only association for substitute teachers in the state. They can be reached toll-free at 1.888.59.TEACH.
