Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam

Omar Khayyam (1048-c.1123) was a famous Persian mathematician, astronomer and philosopher, who lived in the 11/12th centuries and worked at the court in Eastern Iran.
It is not clear how many quatrains were actually composed by him, even though they are usually attributed to him.
According to Bill Martin and Sandra Mason, "FitzGerald’s Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam was first published in 1859. It contained 75 quatrains, and was an interpretation not a literal translation of the verses attributed to Khayyam."
