Ernie Anastos is an Emmy-award winning news anchor at Fox 5 in New York City. Ernie and The Big Newz is an autobiographical story about a young boy who dreams of being a TV news journalist.

This storybook has an odd but somehow appealing feel to it. On the one hand, the book looks more like a book from the 1950s. The illustrations are rough marker sketches which don't look quite finished, and the story has a simple, somewhat innocent look at life. Pleasantville is alive and well in his story. At the same time, the story has modern technology throughout it definitely placing it in current times.

For any family that has a child who dreams of being on the news at night, this will be a book that will be put aside only long after its pages are well worn. The news Ernie covers during the story are scaled perfectly for young children. The situations have an excitement over simple experiences that echo a young child's look at life. Perhaps Ernie and The Big Newz will inspire a future Emmy-award winning news reporter to follow their dream.
