Tale of Despereaux Writing Competition

In the Tale of Despereaux there are unlikely heroes who have to overcome various obstacles keeping them from their dreams:
- Despereaux is a brave mouse banished to the dungeon for speaking with a human
- Roscuro is a good-hearted rat who loves light and soup, but is exiled to darkness
- Pea is a Princess in a gloomy castle who is prisoner to her father's grief
- Mig is a servant girl who longs to be a Princess, but is forced to serve the jailer
Despereaux Competition
Imagine that you are a character in the Tale of Despereaux. Who are you and what obstacle do you need to overcome? Please write a 250-750 word character study and send it to Despereaux Writing Competition.
Entries must be received by January 31st, 2009. Winner must be a US resident. If you are under the age of 13, you must have your parents send us a permission slip to enter.
