The setting for Cars is Route 66, the historic highway that changed America. The national highway linked Chicago, IL with Los Angeles, CA, and it is often known as the Mother Road or Americas Highway.
Project 1 - Before and After:
Pick one to three locations along Route 66 and investigate the differences between what they were like during the heyday of Route 66, and what theyre like in present day. Use photos to illustrate your report or display.
Project 2 - State Report
Choose a state Route 66 intersects and write a report on the significance of the interstate highway in the region. What happened to the area when Route 66 was established, and what happened when Route 66 was bypassed? How was this represented in Cars?
