Vocabulary List for The Pianist Lesson Plan


Deportation:
The act of banishing someone from a country.

Integral: Essential or necessary.

Evoke: To call to mind; to summon or call forth.

Subjective: Personal; particular to a person.

Integrity: Honesty; steadfast adherence to a strict ethical code.

Legitimate: Being in compliance with the law; reasonable.

Censor: One authorized to examine books, films, or other material and suppress what is considered objectionable.

Atrocities: Appalling condition, quality, or behavior; monstrous.

Genocide: The systematic and planned extermination of an entire national, racial, political, or ethnical group.

Insight: The ability to figure out the true nature of a situation.

Perpetuating: To prolong the existence of something.

Infringement: A violation as of a law, a regulation, or an agreement; a breach.

Albeit: Even though; although.

Correlate: To establish or demonstrate that something has similar characteristics.

Sustained: To keep in existence; maintain.

Envision: To picture in the mind; imagine.
