Save Money On Phone Calls On The Road

Don't follow the directions in hotels that say that you're supposed to dial 8 or 9 + 0 + a toll-free number, when you're using your phone card or credit card to make a call. When you do that it sends you to the long distance carrier that has the contract with your hotel. This can cost you a lot of money, because these carriers are often very expensive!

Instead, just dial 8 or 9 and go straight to the 800 number on your card. You'll be charged a small amount by the hotel for making a toll-free call, but you won't be hit with all of the extra fees on your phone call. This is a huge help for your vacation budget.

This tip was from a former operator: Laura Sheehan
