Roots and Branches
July is Roots and Branches Month. This is a great time to do a family project to celebrate who you are, where you came from, and where you're going. After all, it's hard to move forward if you don't know where youve been.
The staff at ClassBrain has been putting together all sorts of projects that you can do by yourself or with your family. Whether you have a traditional family with a mom, dad, and siblings, or a blended family with stepparents, we have a project that will work for you. We even have a project that doesnt require any knowledge of your ancestors: the Roots and Branches Worksheet.
How can you celebrate Roots and Branches Month?
For the the young and young at heart:
Create a family tree.
Create a family orchard, if you have stepparents.
Create a Roots and Branches display, regardless of your family structure.
For craft lovers:
Create a family scrapbook page. Use our Block Page Layouts to make a page showing your core family in the main pictures, and your extended family in the outer rows.
For family historians:
Create an oral history of a veteran in your family with ClassBrains Veteran's Memories Project in conjunction with the Library of Congress. Read more about this project in A Look Into Our Past in Movies in the Classroom.
