Attention all philatelists! On April 5, 2002, the United States Postal Service released
for public sale a collection of 50 stamps representing America’s 50
States.There were ceremonies held
in each State simultaneously to commemorate the occasion.
The collection is called “Greetings from
America” and was designed after vintage postcards from the 1930’s
and 1940’s.Illustrator
Lonnie Busch finished the project after five years of work.In each stamp she included various
landmarks and symbols particular to that State's heritage. Each stamp is worth 34 cents and the
sheet of 50 stamps is now available at all U.S. Post Offices and sells for 17
dollars.
