Any Service Member

Since the Department of Defense officially suspended the "Any Service Member" and "Operation Dear Abby" mail programs on October 30th due to the anthrax threat, people have been looking for a substitution method. Now, there is a way to continue this process.

The Any Service Member site is about providing a way for people to continue the tradition of "Any Service Member" mail. Through the use of e-mail you can send letters to someone serving in the American or Canadian Armed Forces. Please read the site rules below before you send any mail.

‘Prime directive #1 is Operational Security, or OPSEC, at the source as they say. That means in this instance you're the source. If your spouse, or someone close to you, is currently deployed overseas (or elsewhere in the United States), please don't post any information that could jeopardize their safety.

‘Prime directive #2 is that this site was created to show your support for those who could potentially come into harms way. If you want to bash ethnic groups, religions, or the U.S., there are plenty of other places where that is acceptable behavior. It isn't acceptable here.’
