State Reports
Subcategories
State Reports has gone through a major revision that
you may not recognize right away. We've created
subcategories in State Reports and sorted everything
for you, so that it's easier to find what you need.
If you click on a state on the left navigation bar,
it will open the subcategories, so that you can
navigate straight to what you need. Looking for California
Maps? Now they are all together! If you'd rather
just scroll through the state and see what we have,
just stay in the main section (ie California)
it
shows what all the other categories have in them.
State Symbols
We're still working like crazy on the state symbols
upgrade, but I think you're going to love what you
find. We've been adding new sections full of
information on all of the state symbols, and some of
the states, like Georgia,
have a LOT of them! Wow! We've tracked
down photos, links, songs, all sorts of amazing
things. Hopefully we'll finish all of the states
within the next month or so. If we haven't reached
your state yet, hang in there. It will be so great
when we do.
Other Fun Stuff
In our state reports section, you'll also find new
maps, state
songs, climate
information, census
info,
and state
quarter sheets. Be sure that you peek in
our Fun Stuff sections for things like stickers that
you can use in your reports, and recipes that are
based on foods that are grown in each of the states.
There are more surprises to find as you look
through State Reports, and soon we'll be adding even
more. So keep an eye open.

Dear Cynthia,
It's almost time to go back to school. Over the
summer we've been working hard to update ClassBrain,
and add some new things that I think you're going to
love. In this newsletter, I'll give you a quick
update of what you'll find around the site.

5th Anniversary of 9-11
|
|
This year marks the 5th anniversary of September
11th. The attacks on the World Trade Center and the
Pentagon were the worst ever committed on U.S.
soil. Our Freedom Files section takes a look at
those events, and the subsequent war in Iraq.
We have two sections, Freedom
Files is for older kids and adults, and Freedom
Files Kids is especially designed with younger
kids in mind. All of the links have been updated in
these sections. Some of the historic links were
unfortunately lost when websites changed or
disappeared, but others have been preserved with the
help of the Wayback Machine, which allows us to link
to webpages as they were in 2001.
Please take a look through this section, and pause to
remember those lost on September 11th, as well as
the soldiers we've lost since then.

Halloween is Almost Here
|
|
Halloween is almost here, and we've got some cool
things for the kids to do. Like State Reports and
some of our other sections, we've added
subcategories to help make the Monthly Grab Bag
section easier to navigate. In Halloween, we've
added another layer of categories to make things
even easier.
We have sections for costumes,
games,
activity
pages, and safety.
For all of those who bought costumes from us last
year, thank you. It has helped us add a lot to the
site. If you're planning to buy costumes this year,
please think about purchasing them through the ClassBrain
Costume section.
I'll be sending out a special pre-Halloween issue
that tells you about a lot of the cool things you'll
find here for Halloween. Until then, please have fun
looking around.

New Games to Help with Math
|
|
If you haven't visited our games section, you should
take a peek. The brainy games in particular are
great for kids who have finished their work and have
some leftover time, or for those that need to
practice their math skills. Since multiplication
seems to be difficult for some kids, we found a game
called the Multiplication
Station that lets kids practice and have fun at
the same time. We also have online
Math Flash Cards to help them practice for
tests. If you have students that have gotten
wrapped up in the Sudoku craze, we have a great
Sudoku game as well.
There are plenty of games for English buffs as well,
including the new Wacky
Word Search Game and the
Writer's Block game.

Back to School Section
|
|
Also, since this is our back to school issue, we had
to have a
great Back to School section, which we
do! Stop in for all sorts of safety checklists,
help with IEP forms, homework tips, guides, and
nutrition information. Be sure to take a few
minutes an check this section before the kids go
back to school.
