Keeping Up With State Math Standards

Dear ASK ClassBrain-

In order for Sadlier Publishing, (Editorial Math Dept.) to adhere to all mathematical standards, we must be up-to-date on revised standards. I understand that updates take place anually. Do you have any suggestions on a simple way to be informed when these revisions take place. Otherwise, if you are aware of a revision of a specific state standard which has been revised, any information will be helpful and greately appreciated.

Sincerely,
Victoria L.

Dear Victoria-
Keeping up with changing standards can be very difficult. Each state updates their standards at their own leisure. Some states have just recently implemented standards of any sort. Our advice to you is to join the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. They keep an eye on changes within their field. We also have direct links to standards for each of the 50 states on our site. We would suggest a periodic check of these for your company, perhaps every 3 to 6 months. Even though there are suggestions for national standards, each state has their own, and is not required to conform to the national recommendations. Your writing requirements will depend on the state for which you are creating materials.
