Merdeka Day welcomes in Malaysia's 50th anniversary of independence from Britain, but more importantly, the stupendous and astounding progress Malaysia has achieved over
the years. Merdeka Day is packed with great events that the government has put together for all to enjoy. Events for the day will include a two-hour parade highlighting
the achievements under all of the past and present Prime ministers as well as another two-hour large-scale blowout full of festivities.
As quoted by Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim, this
Independence Day celebration will allow everyone to feel " the spirit of Merdeka in every
sense of the word." Several world leaders will be welcomed in to experience this
exciting event, including UK's Prince Andrew and the Duke of York.
